Fluentpet

Kids! Workbook Design

We launched a Fluentpet program for kids, the “Junior Teacher Program”, where we encourage the young ones to get started with button teaching which allows them to have a better understanding towards their pets. I was tasked to conceptualize and design the overall look of the website as well as the free interactive workbook. See more info about the web design project under the Website Design section.

Working on the workbook was the most fun since I get to work on layout, cover design and the accompanying illustrations on each page. I kept it simple and clean so as it's easy for the children to understand and digest all the info. As this is something parents can print on their own, we made sure the color contrasts and illustrations won't look too complicated even when printed in black and white.

Download and see the free interactive workbook here.

Amtech

Below are design works I've done as a full-time junior graphic designer at A2 Design Lab, my first company and fulltime role after graduating. I worked as a junior brand designer working with New Zealand clients like Amtech. Amtech is a wholesale and retail distributor of healthcare, medical and dental products. Aside from Newtech, I loved how I was able to broaden my skills and learn more from my senior colleagues working on brand design, especially for the healthcare industry. This made me feel my designs were really causing an impact to the people who get to interact with Amtech products and services. This experience has greatly influenced how I approach my design career.

Below are layout designs I conceptualized for their Dentalnews and Medinews publication.

Newtech

These are layout designs I conceptualized for Newtech, also a New Zealand client, which they use for their online/printed catalogues, and label designs that go with the company's boxes for their orders. We always made sure to provide our clients different designs to choose from.

I love the contrast of brand designs I simultaneously worked on, Amtech's branding is more on the bright and colorful that offers a warm welcome to their customers, while Newtech on the other hand is more clean and simple which gives off a very high-end feel of their products and services.

Personal project

During the pandemic, it was so hard to stay focus on our longterm goals knowing there's an ongoing public health crisis. Lockdown was somewhat beneficial. We're able to work from home and bond with our family, have that work-life balance, but that didn't last long. Problems continued to persist, nevertheless.

Reading articles like this helped me cope and it's one of the ways that kept me grounded to fully understand the situation. I read this one article by Colette Shade and thought of making an editorial design out of it as a memoir of having to suffer and experience such a significant event of history. This especially stopped me from being chronically online and move forward despite being stuck at home.
